LATEST TREND FOR SUMMER LOVING!!!!
Every now and then a trend will emerge to which the correct response is: Mother of God, no. Not now, not ever. Even were it a case of being over my dead body, my spirit would find a way of rebelling from beyond the grave.
Thus it is with clogs, which no lesser authorities than Louis Vuitton and Chanel – a plague on both their houses – have earmarked as spring/summer 2010’s next big thing.
This season’s latest shoe fad? It’s clogs. The trend has nothing to do with Industrial Revolution chic, and everything to do with the fact that Chanel is about to stock a pair for upwards of €700. Similarly, Louis Vuitton has produced a clog-boot hybrid (no doubt soon to be nicknamed the “cloot”) and Céline has a wedge with a cloggish vibe about it. It’s no surprise that Alexa Chung – queen of the slightly awkward but very hip shoe – has tuned in early.
Strangely, the clog was conceived of as a protective worker’s shoe, but they’re actually a pretty perilous piece of footwear, as anyone who has worn them knows. Bruised ankle bones, frequent tripping and sore toe muscles from gripping on to a rigid wooden sole are all inherent dangers.
The way to wear them is:
• Go barefoot for extra grip.
• Team with something either whimsical or aggressively minimal.
• Never attempt a quiet entrance.
• Carry plasters.
• Don’t be tempted by a top that could be confused with a dinner-lady’s tabard.
Im definetly a fringe fan!! I have been for years! and though it only comes around every few years i think its here to stay now and you can pull it out when ever you like!! I have a few suede fringe bags and a big red one i bought in new your which is fab!! I do have a couple of fringe tops and sandles too which i love as they can give you that boho look in a flash and im a big fan of this look!! arent we all!!! Fringing is all over the catwalks and now in our local highstreet shops like RIVERISLAND -TOPSHOP-NEWLOOK affordable prices for us wee lassies!! Ill defo be rocking this look this summer and will be wearing some lovely hairbands i picked up with feathers on them – i know sounds a bit mad but if you wear it with something plain and simple and let the hairband do the talking you wont go wrong!!!
HARAJUKU, we love it!
Harajuku is the fashion district of Japan, its known for its theatre style dressers and its free will, non-conformist, trend setting attitude. The Harajuku style may not go down well in many other cities around the world which are conservative, including Kampala, however every style conscious young (or young at heart) person needs a little Harajuku in their style system to give them that haute couture edge.
Harajuku Style has caught on all over the world but it was truly popularized by Gwen Stephanie with her album L.A.M.B (Love Angel Music Baby.) Gwen has since launched two clothing lines, Harajuku lovers, based on the 4 characters L.A.M.B (pictured above) and the L.A.M.B brand, inspired by reggae and Rastafarian culture.
Below are pictures from the streets of Harajuku and some Harajuku inspired types of outfits.
